Arizona Republic:  “In December and January, more than 20 criminal-defense attorneys filed motions in Maricopa County Superior Court to have County Attorney Andrew Thomas’ office removed as prosecutor in their cases because of his ongoing battles with the court.  The attorneys argued, among other things, that Thomas had a conflict of interest with the court and that the jury pool would be too tainted by the news coverage to provide fair trials.  This week, an out-of-county judge assigned to the matter canceled a mass hearing scheduled for Tuesday and whittled down the number of cases that would be granted hearings in the future.”
