African-American Parent Sues School because Class Read a Book about Slavery

The Macomb Daily:  “The father of a former student at Warren Consolidated Schools has sued the district, claiming that her African-American daughter was the victim of racial bias and harassment by the teacher reading aloud of passages from a book about slavery.  Jamey Petree, representing Jala Petree, says that excerpts [four paragraphs] from “From Slave Ship to Freedom Road” were read last January by Jala’s fifth-grade teacher at Margaret Black Elementary School in Sterling Heights.”

Not Happy Losing $3.8 Billion in Fiscal Year 2009, U.S. Postal Service Cuts Expenses & Staff & Loses $8.5 Billion in Fiscal 2010

If you want a reason why the federal government should not touch our national health care system, look no further than the U.S. Postal Service.  It’s a government run monopoly that provides less and less service at an ever increasing cost.  USPS lost a mere $3.8 billion for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2009, so the unelected and accountable to nobody brains running the USPS devised a plan to cut expenses and staff to save money.  Result:  losses more than doubled the next fiscal year to $8.5 billion.  Delivering mail is a lot simpler than delivering health care to 350 million people.   See “Losses double for U.S. Postal Service.”

Diner Who Ordered Artichoke But Didn’t Know Hot to Eat It Sues the Restaurant

On Point:  “A Florida man who says he was injured from eating the leaves of a grilled artichoke has filed a lawsuit that may test whether a restaurant has a duty to explain to patrons how to eat unfamiliar food items.”  The complaint alleges that the restaurant’s staff did not ask “Plaintiff whether he was familiar with how to eat ‘Grilled Artichokes’ or explain to Plaintiff that [the] outside portion of the leaf should not be eaten; rather, only the inside portion of the leaf was safely digestible.”

Bankrupt US to spend $200 MILLION a DAY on Obama’s Mumbai Trip

Despite the voters of America voting loud and clear that they do not want the federal government to waste tax dollars, President Obama intends to take his entourage to Mumbai despite the fact his trip will be the single most expensive trip in the history of mankind.  A reasonable person would cancel the trip because there is no way that any perceived benefit could ever out weight the cost of the trip.

NDTV:  “The US would be spending a whopping $200 million . . . per day on President Barack Obama’s visit to the city

[Mumbai].  ‘The huge amount of around $200 million would be spent on security, stay and other aspects of the Presidential visit,’ a top official of the Maharashtra Government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit said.  About 3,000 people including Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists would accompany the President.

Investors Business Daily:  “Yes, a traveling president deserves security. But the 3,000-person entourage accompanying Barack Obama to Mumbai, India, this week reeks of pashalike decadence. . . . Five fully loaded jet aircraft will fly Obama and his party of 3,000 caravan-style in luxury that would make a sultan blush. The entire Taj hotel — 570 rooms — plus other space next door are the sort of accommodations only a khan might have arranged until now.”
